UNTIL LIFE’S END

The sounds of a gentle wind

Flows quietly through our hair . . .

The trees sway back and forth,

The sun lifts high in the sky,

Giving us light

So we can make our way –

Why do we take life for granted?

Are we lost in time and space?

Is the pen mightier than the sword?

Then what in life influences us?

So idle we wonder through time . . .

As if we have no mind!

Or should we blame it on the wind:

“Excuses made until life’s end!”

LOVE WAS THE REASON

I heard a sound, “Whispered a heart,”

The pain of love tears me apart!

To love we always take a chance . . .

And with passion we need to dance.

Sit quietly – be heard and not seen –

Hear the sounds of a tambourine!

Sounds of love in a heart run deep,

And if you listen you’ll hear it weep.

All that is sad we cannot proclaim –

If it were so we would go insane!

Let it all go – for sanity’s sake –

And let go of the mistakes you make!

I heard a sound, “The whispers of sin,”

Love was the reason – Amen! Amen!

CAUTION TO THE WIND

I cannot mix the grape with the grain

It always drives me a little insane –

To the head banging music I’d dance,

And the pretty ladies would glance –

On the hardwood floors I would glide

Where smoke and laughter coincide!

Life was just a party when I was young,

As sweet words rolled off my tongue –

I have no regrets I’m sure you can see,

But looking back life was all about me –

Yes, I thought it would last forever . . .

But in reality I guess I was not so clever!

I cannot mix the grape with the grain

The hangovers bring too much pain –

And yes those days were so much fun

Living life basking in the sun –

But in truth those days came to an end,

When I threw caution to the wind!

ACROSS THE MEADOW

The rains have come again

Across the meadow, they fall –

The cries of time hears not,

“Sounds of winter are gone!”

And yet, sad is this heart,

The mountaintops are capped with snow,

But the valleys lay in wait . . .

As the flowers begin to bloom!

The rains have come again,

And what was dormant is now awake –

Something about the smell of spring

That brings joy to one’s heart!

And then we sing a tune . . .

Spring, the season of opportune.

AMERICA, KNELL AND PRAY

America, please knell and pray,

And to our forgiving God say:

O, bless this land, O mighty God!

Direct our paths where ever we trod –

We lay it all at the foot of the cross,

It seems Your truth we have lost –

For our purpose here is to serve You,

And let our hearts be renewed –

Let us mount up like Eagles and run,

And let us never forget Your son!

Forgive our iniquities – give us peace,

Let us always pray and never cease –

Lord please bless America forevermore,

And give us wisdom that we may bore.

WHO WILL YOU BLAME

Tell me:

What is your purpose on this earth?

Are you here to just serve yourself?

Life has to be more than taking up space –

Existing, just watching as the world spins around –

Then time disappears without a trace . . .

And you wait to be placed in the ground!

Remember there is always darkness before light –

You watch people pass – you stand and wave,

Little backbone you have – no will to fight!

You might as well be living in a cave.

The sun rises and the sun will fall . . .

What is your purpose in life – hear life’s call?

Live for a cause – life you cannot rehearse

Who is there to blame – who will you curse?

OFF THE DEEP END

Oh! To be in America

   When April comes rushing in,

And the freedom of America

   Where it all begin,

The ones that paved the way

If they were here what would they say?

The question is, where has freedom gone

What went wrong!

And after that, who can we blame,

Just admit it! Things are not the same –

Friend! Freedom is standing on the edge,

Is America coming to an end?

To the flag the schools no longer pledge,

And look at the signal that it sends!

“I pledge allegiance to my flag and the

Republic for which it stands, one nation,

indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

America, it’s gone off the deep end . . .

Are we willing to save her, my friend?

HARD AIN’T EASY

At dawn we all awake –

Things in life are not always great,

Smile at the day – enjoy the morn,

Soon Gabriel will blow his horn!

Our government is a den of thieves,

But listen to the wind in the leaves –

They will take all your troubles away,

Remember God has given us this day!

Sing a song – hum a tune –

Sit by the sea and look at the moon,

Feel the waters of an ocean’s mist,

But stay away from the Devil’s abyss!

One day we’ll all wake up old –

But look at all the things we know,

For the troubles in the world, pray

Dear Lord, “Just guide us this day!”

THE PASSION OF LOVE

The passion of love is this: To say, I give

it all, and I’ll let the chips fall where they may!

I will not guard my heart with reservation –

I will choose to love until the day I die –

I will keep no records of your faults that I know

I will not pretend or put on a charade…

If you should want more than this, I’ll let you go!

You see, in order to love we cannot be afraid.

The passion of love is this: To know your heart,

and what it wants, without any reservation!

You will have to take a chance at love –

You will not have all the answers – it takes time!

You cannot pine like a mourning dove…

I love you, and together this mountain we’ll climb!

AS TIME PLAYS

The wind lies upon the meadow

As time plays in the shadows –

The mind is quiet, but it knows

Listen; hear the sounds of quietness –

Whispers that fade with each thought

As one’s mind tries to remember . . .

Why am I here – what is my purpose?

The years have faded with time –

And think of all that I have forgotten,

Yet through my eyes I cannot see

All that lies before me . . .

The wind lies upon the meadow

As time plays a sound that’s so loud,

“The whispers of silence!”

TO THIS HEART

Oh! To this heart

   Now that love is there,

And whoever knows my heart

Sees the passion that it declares!

In the shadows where love lies still

Like thoughts that comes at will,

While the world passes on by

Like clouds in the sky!

And in quietness, as shadows fall,

And when the need of love calls –

Awake! To the cries a heart needs

As time drifts upon the wind,

Never knowing where love leads –

Then I ask, is this the end?

Like teardrops in a cup I capture

While waiting on love’s rapture!

And in the stillness of night I knew,

This heart only needed you

Your touch, that calms me down –

Oh! To this heart (Love) so profound!

MILLSTONE OF TRUTH

O sadness! O sadness! A word I hate!

“Life must go on,” this I can state!

Looking at all the wasted years –

Through the heartaches, and the tears,

I must tell the truth – then I hesitate!

Before my God I have to kneel –

Too tell it all, but it needs to be real!

Alone life’s journey we have to cope,

And this heart is filled with deceit,

But it’s the truth I have to seek –

And somewhere in all of this is hope!

Then answers come as I wait . . .

Sometimes truth can put one in shock,

But it’s the truth I have to tell,

And yes these mere words can be hell!

(The millstone of truth is my rock!)

“Do your best to present yourself to

God as one approved, a worker who

does not need to be ashamed and who

correctly handles the word of truth.”

2 Timothy 2:15

THE GOLDEN TRUTH

Silver and gold – God can only make,

And angels sets the tone –

What mortal man makes is fake,

And to try to imitate God is wrong!

If the gold is fake and it is cheap,

Then it does no good to cry –

Deception in a man’s heart runs deep!

   The Devil’s child – that’s why!

But remember there is good news,

We have an out – we have a choice!

God has made us so we can choose,

It’s simple: Just listen to His voice.

All that shines if not silver or gold –

But God’s truth we can always hold!

I’M SURE WE CAN

Not one of us can declare fame!

On the backs of others we stand –

For the blood they spilled on this land

We need to burn an eternal flame!

One deserving person we can’t name

For all was given by God’s hand,

And to honor Him is His command

Then hang our faces in shame! –

Cries of oppression – are cries to all

For we have no right to this land,

And it’s only God that can set us free,

On the backs of others we stand –

So let’s look around – what do we see?

Can we be truthful – I’m sure we can!

NEVER LOOKING BACK

I know not the path others may take

Nor do I know who gave them birth –

All that I can hope for . . .

Is a peaceful life here on earth!

Governed by the curse of the verse,

A need in me since I was born –

To express my thoughts to others,

And to endure life’s scorn!

Onward I push – never looking back,

And facing the heat or the cold –

--Knowing each day is an unknown,

But life is more precious than gold!

Simple advice: Sing to the heavens,

For one’s heart only God knows!

I LOVE HER STILL

Remembering a love of other days,

A cute, sweet, and a very pretty gal,

But what year was it, I forget

Letting her slip away I now regret –

I guess I threw in the towel!

She was a bit high spirited I guess,

But I too had some crazy ways!

A Diamond in the rough I guess,

And not always seeing the best

Lost somewhere in the haze!

Upon the sheets where we played

As moonlight shined upon her face,

And now etched in my mind

Moments of a forgotten time,

Gone without a trace!

The years have come and gone . . .

Life was hard, and it takes great will,

To face tomorrow, and even today,

And through it all I’ll have to say:

“In reality I love her still!”

TEFLON DON

To lead is truly your Fate,

Your given time – it’s not too late!

There are those that appose you,

But you must put that out of view!

Their thinking is vicious, and low –

In history you have taken your place,

And its wisdom you have got to know!

Not men, but God, you have to face.

Once again our flag we will raise,

Obstructionists, deceitful hearts filled;

Laws established they try to rephrase –

But the border wall you have to build!

Better are you than men you please –

Promises – only saying what you mean!

You see what the forgotten man sees,

And the swamp will once again be clean!

America, I know is close to your heart,

And you handle her with great care –

If only our leaders would do their part;

Before God was an oath they did swear!

Look to the future – be strong, be bold!

Hurry! Hurry! We’re running out of time,

Soon the truth we all will have to know –

In the halls you walk – wisdom you’ll find.

Only with God there is wisdom you’ll attain;

The beauty of tomorrow is in your eyes –

And with God’s help the swamp you’ll drain!

And the forgotten man you hear his cries.

So Teflon Don, do your work, and do it well!

And God will guard you from evil men –

This beautiful land where we all dwell,

We know you’ll make America great again!
