TEST OF FAITH

 

I woke up this morning

It was a restless night –

Me and the Devil always fight!

My faith he will somehow test,

I guess he thinks I will forget,

But I know I’m still blessed!

Mistakes I’ve made – that I regret!

But I know that my Lord is real,

And I’m going to live until

It’s time for me to go home –

The Lord forgave me for my wrong,

But the Devil will test one’s will!

Focus on the Lord and he will flee,

That’s the only way he’ll let me be!

GOD’S PERFECT PLAN

 

February hangs on for life,

But March awaits in the wing –

The Robin is ready to sing

As the cold still creates strife!

I admit – I’m not a winter fan

I am in love with spring!

All will come to life, everything!

It’s about God’s perfect plan!

O I love to see a rose unfold,

As the Tulip’s sway in the wind,

And this is where it all begins –

Bring its sweetness to my soul!

February hangs on for life,

But spring takes away the strife!

REALITY WINS

 

A Day will come

(Reality will always win)

We look around, but there is nowhere to run!

All things will come to an end –

So man, in your arrogance stance

I must ask, “Did you think life goes on forever?”

Is truth just a form of circumstance –

Arrogance is never defined as being clever!

Look in the mirror – reality you must face!

Time waits not; it just fades away . . .

So, ask yourself, “Did you run a good race

Or was life to you just another day?”

Reality, A Day will come

We look around, but there is nowhere to run!

MAKE A CHOICE

 

Roses are sad,

And violets are glad!

Women are not all the same,

And I guess it’s men to blame!

Gender affirmation – a bunch of crap –

I guess common sense is taking a nap!

Our world, I just shake my head,

And it makes me want to stay in bed!

In truth, “The Devil is alive and well,”

And he is taking the world to hell!

The roses may be sad,

And the violets may be glad!

But we all must make a choice:

“Listen to the world or God’s voice.”

RATIONALITY

 

It’s 3AM and the darkness is still

How I got home I have no clue –

By the porcelain god I kneel!

I thought, “Why kill yourself?”

Because whiskey is my friend:

(Remembering the night, she left!)

I’m always there until the last call –

Drowning her memory with Jack,

Was it love? Hell, I don’t recall!

I can’t remember being so sick,

But I’m sure I’ll do it again –

Drink less – now that’s the trick!

It was not my fault – she just left,

And I’m stuck here with myself!

“When will this life end?”

It’s been quite a journey

With just You and me –

The things my eyes have seen,

But it’s heaven I long to see!

I know I’ve made a lot of mistakes,

And I know You forgave them all!

I know Lord, the world deceives me,

But I’ve always heard Your call –

I remember what James had to say:

“Life is like a vapor that appears

A little time and then vanishes away.”

But it seems you just don’t care

That your love is like a snare!

THE SNOW MOON

 

Shadows cast on the mountains of blue,

And anymore we don’t know what is true –

A world designed to keep us all in fear,

And not to believe that the end is near –

To keep us distracted from God’s truth,

And control the innocence of our youth!

But God says for us not to fear,

And to know that He is always near . . .

So, I say, turn the noise off, and relax

Listen to the Violin or the blues’ Sax –

All that we can ever control is our mind,

So, tell me, “Why are we wasting time?”

MUCH IS GIVEN

“To whom much is given, much will be required.”

All that we mask in life will be left for others!

So, I ask, “What is wrong with our thinking?”

Did we spend our entire lives chasing money?

Do we manage money or does it manage us?

The Bible says (Enough is never enough)

It’s not our fault – most were not trained right!

We have listened to man, and not God!

Our priorities are totally out of order . . .

We have become all about self and not others –

God has given us a manual for life – read it!

Know the truth, and the truth will set you free –

“Divine wisdom is pure and profitable, unlike

the “bitter envy and selfish ambition” instead

be aware of what the world wants us to believe!”

DON’T BE DISMAYED

 

I walk life’s lonely road . . .

With a mind carrying a heavy load –

I know there is truth, but it’s hidden,

And for some it seems forbidden!

But soon there will be a day . . .

Written in the Bible the Lord did say:

“The time is coming when everything

that is covered up will be revealed,

and all that is secret will be made

known to all.”

So, with God’s word my load is now lite,

And in His truth, I can delight!

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong

and courageous. Do not be dismayed,

for the Lord your God is with you

wherever you go.” Amen!

GOOD AND EVIL

Looking at all the white stuff,

And knowing many are having it tough!

Six to twelve inches on the ground,

And there is no way in hell to get around!

Is weather modification at play?

That’s what all the conspiracies say!

Just a fact – the Devil is alive and well,

And if true, these people are going to hell!

Power and money – caring less of mankind

An endless quest to control our mind!

And there is no way we’ll ever understand!

So don’t expect a helping hand –

“We all will be judged by our deeds –

Both good and evil – done during our lives.”

Another day in time and space

Trying to keep up with the rat race –

Always chasing the almighty dollar,

But one must be a scholar!

This endless path we seem to grind

With less caring in one’s mind!

I guess we think we will live forever,

Big money or little it’s all the same

Leaving us with someone to blame!

Human nature is a strange animal

The more learned you become

Like a heart filled with love

Off the ground comes your feet!

A touch so gentle . . .

Passion that fills these blue eyes,

A love that can’t be compromised!

I stare out my window . . .

The snow is frozen on the ground –

The birds are flying all around,

The south mountain stands quietly

As if to say, “I know you see me!”

Then thoughts rush in . . .                                      

Thinking of the places I’ve been,

But something else stirs my spirit!

A noise – the fireplace just lit –

And then I’m reminded of you,

And the hell we have been through!

I stare out my window . . .

“Never get complacent with life

Because there will always be strife!”

A simple mind should understand,

And surely has eyes to see –

That a heart needs someone to love,

And that is truly you and me!

But we go through life pretending

That we are all big and bad!

Why do we deceive ourselves?

A simple mind should understand,

Even if we love or lose –

At least we gave it our best shot!

There are so many – just choose,

And who knows, we could win –

I know you know!

Quiet words I need not speak –

I have watched you from afar . . .

And you don’t have a clue

How you broke my heart,

And the times I fell apart!

No! It’s never too late –

I know you know!

Yes! You can read between

The lines of my poems –

You can feel the passion I hold,

And the love I have for you!

In my mind it’s still yesterday,

And I remember that day . . .

You went away for no reason!

I know you know!

Time cannot erase this love –

A love that is pure and true

A love your heart cannot deny!

A FACT

 

You never know with a person

   Or why they pitch a fit –

It comes when you least expect,

   And they cannot explain it!

Is it something about getting older?

   Or maybe life is just too much!

Problems can be hard to shoulder,

   And this is more common with men

For most can’t handle emotional stress

   Or they were not trained properly –

Look at those who have failed the test!

   Life is just an endless game,

And things are not always fair –

   We never know what is coming next,

And I am sure you have been there

   A fact, nothing remains the same!

I tied my shoes

I turned on the news –

The world has gone mad,

And it leaves me sad!

The weak of mind

Are so inclined . . .

A la carte for a fool,

And to hell with the Golden Rule!

There seems to be no end

Common sense they can’t defend!

But life goes on . . .

It matters not who is right or wrong –

I turn out the light

Truth will prevail and make things right!

Fingers tapping on the table

As the rain comes down –

The night she left me felt like hell,

And reasoning is not to be found!

Quietness now fills the room

As reality slowly come to light –

Loneliness is like a sad tune,

The sounds of goodbye can say,

“Love is a man’s endless fate!”

And now I have lost my way –

The rain pounds on the window

As if it can feel my pain . . .

My heart still holds her memory,

Dirty socks on the floor –

Your picture hangs on the wall,

And time ain’t my friend!

My heart pounds in my chest

As tears stream down my face . . .

“Hell no!” I’m not missing you!

Truth lies at the bottom of this glass –

Then I laughed out loud!

Was it love or just a memory lost in time?

A chill runs up my spine . . .

As the whiskey drowns my foolish mind!

Then I hear you whisper my name:

“Darling forgive me for leaving you alone.”

Awake! Awake! O taunted spirit!

   O words, where do I start,

And worst of all – we didn’t see it!

   We never understand the heart,

And yes, that is not very smart!

 

Onward we go! Onward we go!

   Deceived by those we trust,

And it’s so little the mind knows –

   “So be aware,” it’s a must,

But it’s for power that men will lust!

 

So here we are – the golden age,

   And there is no place to run!

Our world is now filled with rage,

   Anger worse than an evil tongue,

And it appears we have just begun!

GOOD SENSE

 

When I opened the door, the light was dim,

   But she was lying in the moonlight –

Where shadows reflected from her pretty hair,

   And I could see the peacefulness on her face!

   I just stood there for a while thinking:

“How blessed can one man be?”

Then I was overtaken with emotions!

 

O how the years have just faded away . . .

   All of life’s ups and downs –

And I must admit my priorities were wrong,

   It’s funny how life can get in the way!

   Only now can I face the truth about things:

“It’s called man’s worst paradox!”

Making a living took the place of good sense!
