PAIN OR BLAME

 

A noise came loud and strong

It was like a heavy medal song!

   And on and on it went

   Loud and louder

      Pounding in my ears,

      And then came the tears!

 

The room shook

As if I had no luck

Pounding in my ears,

And then

The quietness came

As my mind tried to endure

The madness

That makes oneself

Gravel

At what we do to please

Without little though

Without caring

Of the outcome.

 

Here

In the shadows

I look around

I pour whiskey down,

   Is it all about me?

   Self-indulgent –

   Is what others see!

And I try to think

What is my purpose?

   Answers in a glass –

      A self-analysed stance!

 

But tomorrow is out of sight

It’s not my fault!

I have a perfect excuse

“Was it love

Or was it the rejection?”

At this point

It all seems the same

I must endure the pain!

Then I clear my eyes

I look through the smoke

The ice cracks

My heart pounds

I pour whiskey down,

And I endure the pain,

And I know:

“It’s myself I blame!

PLEASE STAY

 

I looked up,

And there you were . . .

With all the years that have passed us by,

As I remember we never said goodbye!

We both just took a different path –

And then I heard that insatiable laugh!

You were sitting at a table with some guy,

And I felt my heart begin to sigh . . .

Then you turned, and looked my way,

And the passion in your eyes wanted to say:

“I’ve never forgotten the love we once had,

And I’m so sorry that I made you mad!”

Then you got up and walked away . . .

With my heart screaming, “Please Say!”

THE AMERICAN WAY

 

All I need is your initial

Then the lady says, “It’s official!”

So, I just signed my life away,

Yes, sometimes that’s the only way!

Now I’m in debt a 100K,

The bank owes me until my dying day!

Money, the root of all evil –

It’s worse than being Evel Knievel!

Reality, every month it comes around

No relief is anywhere to be found!

It’ the great American way –

Well at least that’s what they say!

“The rich rule over the poor, and

The borrower is servant to the lender.”

LISTEN TO ME

 

Why did this old tree

Suddenly started talking to me

You think I just sway in the wind,

But you have no idea where I’ve been!

I have seen the centuries go by,

And even the wind doesn’t know why!

“So, I guess this makes you wise,

But it’s your confidence I despise!”

Humans just run around all day

With very little substance to say –

I started from a mere oak seed,

And with patience I had to succeed!

So, if you are wise and listen to a tree

Then you could be as smart as me!

A FOOL AND HIS MONEY

  

On my face I can feel the wind

It’s letting me know where I’ve been –

My eyes are fixed on what lies before me

A reality that only I can see . . .

Then a leaf starts blowing in the wind,

And I stop and think of an old friend –

A lifetime spent chasing endless dreams

Living in a world filled with schemes,

Human nature I try to understand

While dealing with the foolishness of man!

So, I just sit here and laugh out loud –

Swindled out of money – aren’t you proud?

“A fool and his money will soon part

Because of the evil that’s in his heart!”

HOTDOGS AND BEER

 

If I could massage my brain

Then maybe I’d ease this pain

Or is it just an emotional thing

Like sitting in drenching rain!

But all in all, there is still hope –

It’s like fishing without a boat

Or when someone gets your goat

Now hang that on your rope!

Fourth of July is a special day

Hotdogs and Beer, O yay, O yay!

While we waste our time away,

But for this nation we can pray!

If I could massage my brain

Then maybe I’d not go insane!

AN S.O.B.

 

Mother nature and Father time conceived

What they produced you won’t believe!

Yes! They had to admit it was a S.O.B,

And this picture I’ll paint for you to see!

All the mountains cried out with joy –

It was not a girl, but a handsome boy!

The winds danced along the streams . . .

The clouds at night had pretty dreams –

All the stars came out at night . . .

And the sun by day gave them light!

Mother nature and Father time conceived

A beautiful task that most can’t achieve –

This fulfilled a lifetime of longing . . .

A son that had a (Sense of Belonging!)

TO QAVAH

 

By a single thread we hang,

But when we come together,

We create an unbreakable bond!

When we “wait” upon the Lord

We intertwine our lives with His!

Actively waiting, we devote an

Eager expectation that requires

Faith and endurance of oneself!

“Those who “Qavah” the Lord shall

Renew their strength; they shall

Mount up with wings like eagles!”

Qavah for the lord; be strong, and

Let your heart take courage; yes,

Qavah for the Lord always!

Don’t sit passively – stretch out

Your soul; lean on the promises of

God, and trust in His deliverance!

A PIERCING THOUGHT

 

I held a rose in my hand

The velvet touch had no demand –

A throne pierced my skin

Like a love that knows no end!

Tears begin to fill my eyes

And I know my soul needs to cry!

Regrets seen to sneak in

Like petals blowing in the wind-

Answers I need to find . . .

But yesterday was lost in time!

O such beauty my eyes behold,

And tomorrow – I don’t know!

But today I held a perfect rose

Lacking words I can’t compose!

In the shadows

Meekness we must understand!

It’s the ego we must feed

Money makes us the boss!

Darkness hides in a soul,

Every day we can do a good deed,

          Try, it’s not that hard!

When helping others we succeed,

Then the Lord will draw so near,

And then one’s heart will feel glad,

Helping others feels so dear!

          Try, it’s not that hard!

Storms of life affects us all –

          None of us are immune!

Upon the Lord we all will call,

          None of us are immune!

Today we have the world by the tale,

And tomorrow one’s heart is sad,

In a flash things can turn to hell!

          I know, I have been there!

Storms of life will call us out –

          I know, I have been there!

Do a good deed – let others shout!

But I guess we were never warned!

Have you ever felt like a caged Canary?

People act like Moe, Curry, and Larry!

I know sometimes I can even be a little contrary,

But enduring stupidity – the brain will tarry!

 

Look around! Look at this world . . .

It makes your brain want to twirl!

Some weirdo named his girl Earl –

And I saw a guy at Walmart dressed like a girl!

 

Wrong becomes right, and right becomes wrong,

But remember, it all starts at home!

We should never leave our kids alone –

Absence of direction will set its own tone!

THE MOON WAS GOLD

 

 

Thoughts in my mind are stuck!

(A beautiful girl – an old pick-up truck)

The night was young – the moon was gold!

Mountaintops covered from an April snow –

The windows were tinted with fog,

As we heard the sounds from a Bullfrog!

Soft music playing on the radio . . .

Our blood was rushing from head to toe!

Was it love or lust – how could I know?

Lost in time as moments unfold . . .

Some will call it luck or was it simply fate,

But passion is always better than hate!

Thoughts in my mind are stuck!

Of memories left in an old pick-up truck!

In the throes of time

All the things that come to mind –

Reasoning hasn’t come yet

Lost emotions stuck on “regret!”

Life can be a one-way street

Where ignorance and wisdom meet!

Forget about right or wrong!

(Today is a new day)

I’m still alive – hooray!

There is no point in looking back –

Open the fridge – have a snack!

I must live for today,

AMBIGUOUS

 

You say you love me,

But it’s your actions I see!

I understand things are complex,

But here I sit – what is next?

Words and actions have double meanings,

And how can I tell which way you’re leaning!

Love is just a word that you say . . .

Then you turn and look the other way!

It’s hard to figure out your intentions

Your words are vague – like directions!

You say you love me,

And I just need to let it be!

“I’ll address this sometime later,

See you later alligator.”

None will be silent,

None will be silent!

Even the wind, oh wind,

Hidden in the shadows,

Beneath the gray skies,

As the ground trembles

And no one cares.

 

But the truth lies in all of us,

Our names are unknown,

Not one, not one

On our lips, words spoken,

But who understands?

 

And issues are still unsolved,

But truth still outweighs a lie!

 

(no one cares anymore

And we will live and die alone.)

 

Be still, oh soul!

Tomorrow will come!

God will win!

THE BEGINNING OF KNOWLEDGE

Understanding all mysteries and all

Knowledge, and if I have the faith so that

I can move mountains but do not have love,

I am nothing.”

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him

Be the glory both now and to the day of

FLOWERS ON THE WALL

 

Looking at the flowers on the wall

As I heard yesterday call . . .

Memories are somehow forgotten

Like apples on the ground rotten –

The storms of life now fade,

As time becomes another charade!

I stand and look over a corn field,

And this sadness won’t yield –

What I’ve done can’t be undone

The bell has already been rung!

I participated in it all . . .

And now, it’s a heartache I recall!

The world will have to shake

Before people will ever awake!

Brainwashed, we all have become

Common sense has nowhere to run!

It’s not our fault – it’s all by design

(The powers to be) control our mind!

Our faces stuck in a cell phone

No creative thoughts of our own!

“It’s life,” we rationalize everything

Perfect excuses – the songs we sing!

Flying cars – hell we can’t wait –

No one cares about the pearly gate!

The world will have to shake

Before people will ever awake!

A BETTER CHOICE

 

I walked into the room . . .

The reaction was as cold as a tomb –

“You never hear a word I say,

And you always want things your way!”

“You have lost your mind,” In my defense

You are always straddling the fence!

Things are not always black and white,

And why do you have the need to be right?

Men just look at things differently –

So why can’t you women just let it be?

“No there is not an answer to everything!”

Accept reality and don’t always complain!

“I know,” you just want to be heard,

But you see men can’t find the right word!

It’s okay – I’m sorry I raise my voice!

I love you too – yes, that’s a better choice.
