THE WISDOM OF TEN

 

My dad died when I was 10,

And I thought our world would surely end!

You see Dad was a preacher man,

And in the pulpit, he would stand –

“Please open your Bibles to Jeremiah 10”

Then, in a stern voice he would begin:

“I know, O Lord, that the way of man is not in himself,

that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.”

To the world, the devil will speak his word,

But the teachings of God are the sweetest things I’ve ever heard!”

 

“What we learned as a child will be with us when we’re old,

The foundation is more precious than gold!”

I look back at a time when I was young,

And I remember those golden words that fell from Dad‘s tongue!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your

own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will

make your paths straight.”

 

And looking back now, the truth I can see,

I don’t have to figure it all out for me!

No heavy burdens, no weight on my mind—

Total freedom without anxiety left behind.
