THAT DEPENDS

 

Dawn whispers! Can you hear

The fog rising as it comes near –

The day is about to unfold . . .

Life is so sweet - this you know!

Everything in perfect design

God’s beauty that is so Divine –

Listen and hear His voice . . .

Praise His words and rejoice!

Think of all that comes to mind,

And let your world unwind –

Dawn whispers! Can you hear

Enjoy today before it ends,

And tomorrow, well that depends!

COMPLICATED

 

In thought –

Love            such a simple word –

Poured into a heart

Like grapes before they are wine

 

Passion        the taste       so sweet

 

Yet we remain confused

Like little children at play

Learning the rules

Of love

 

When the world is upside down

 

The mind

Filled with possibilities

Today    tomorrow   yesterday

Trying to figure it all out

 

Emotions come unraveled and

 

In thought

Love

And

 

          Time

                   

                    Have no boundaries

 

A simple word       love

Spoken

But

Yet

So damn complicated

PORTRAIT OF TRAITORS

 

Powers were given, but not deserved,

To those governed by greed –

Little thought to people in need . . .

To them it was all just a game,

And even declaring it in God’s name!

Powers were given, but not served –

They stood as the cameras flash

Watching the stock markets crash!

The true arrogance of man,

And for truth they will never stand!

In front of the world they pretend,

And to falsehood it will never end –

A position of power that’s undeserved

SUSURRUS

 

I will be quiet today and listen,

And I know where my strength lies –

It all comes from the Lord,

Which is the ruler of my soul!

 

I will listen to the spirit in me,

For the Holy Spirit never sleeps –

Behold, the Maker of all things:

The one who dressed all the Lilies!

 

I will never surrender to the world:

The Lord alone watches over me –

“He guides the path on which I walk,

And protects me while I sleep!”

 

It’s the Lord I will always praise –

For He alone knows my heart,

It’s only He I need to please, and

Listen to His whispers in the leaves!

LOST

 

All that I know

   Of a certain love

Is, my heart aches

   (Like a tender dove)

Now, these words I said,

   And yes, it’s true

Pounding in my head

   All this passion I have for you,

Now lost in your eyes of blue!

 

Then I stop for a moment – silence rushes in:

   My heart is pounding – what am I to do?

I’m speechless – where do I begin?

   It’s all this passion I have for you –

Now lost in your eyes of blue!

BEYOND MARS

 

Slowly, quietly, I walk alone

The nightly moonlight is shown –

Shadows dance – so hard to see

Like this loneliness in me . . .

The Fireflies I try to catch

Outward my hands I stretch –

Then the fog rises from the bog,

And in the distance a barking dog

I know the world is trying to sleep,

And what we sow we also reap –

O time, O time you slip on by,

And to my mind I don’t know why!

Then I stop and stare at the stars,

Knowing, heaven lies beyond Mars?

I AM GRATEFUL

 

Give me the quietness of a moonlit night,

Give me a scroll by the sea,

Give me a field of golden wheat,

Give me the smell after a gentle rain,

Give me the sounds of the wind blowing

   in the trees . . .

Give me time O’ Lord to see a sunrise

   over the mountains of blue,

Give me the pleasure of watching our

   children grow into adults,

Give me the quietness of death where

   I can wake up at heaven’s gate,

 And for this I am grateful Lord

   for all the years You have given me!
