LOVE CAN NEVER HATE

In the darkness I heard you call

O that sound that fills my head –

The love we had – I remember all,

And the tender words you said –

Upon the sheets we would play,

Always together and never alone –

And our skies were never gray,

And I’m not sure what went wrong?

Sometimes life just gets too busy,

And somehow love takes a backseat –

But then, for us, it came too easy . . .

“May I call you – can we meet?”

We can pretend it’s our first date –

Remember, “Love can never hate!”

YOUR FAVORITE PLACE

I can feel your heartbeat . . .

I taste the sweetness of your lips . . .

I feel the softness of your skin . . .

I see the passion in your eyes . . .

I hear the music of your voice . . .

I know the sadness in your heart . . .

I know the secrets of your soul . . .

I know when you are sad . . .

I know when you are glad . . .

I hear the sounds of your laughter . . .

I know when you need to cry . . .

I know when you feel you want to die . . .

I know how to put a smile on your face . . .

And in my arms is your favorite place!

THE MEMPHIS CAT

Yes, ole Elvis was quite a Cat:

Over in Memphis he had this big house!

And in the driveway sat a Cadillac,

His Memphis Mafia would get soused –

And sometimes in their Patagonian hat,

Listening to a little of Johann Strauss . . .

Yes, ole Elvis was quite a Cat –

But the love of his life was little Lisa Marie,

Her laughter would fill the halls of Graceland,

And he would bounce her on his knee . . .

Then they would walk hand and hand –

But also there was a lot of shakin’ going on!

And, “He Ain’t Nothing but a Hound Dog” –

Yes, that ole boy could bellow out a song!

MEMORIES OF YESTERDAY

Her picture is hanging on the wall

Then I feel my tears begin to fall . . .

Yes, her memory still haunts me,

But this sadness no can see,

And I know that life can be so unfair,

But she was like a breath of fresh air!

Every morning before the day will start,

O these feelings hidden in my heart . . .

Then to the Lord I will say:

“Please just help me get through the day!”

Let me put these feelings in place and then

Tomorrow it will start all over again.

If I could only hear a knock at my door,

If only things could be like before . . .

If I didn’t have this pain in my heart,

If her memory would stop tearing me apart –

If only there was a care for my despair,

But again life can be so unfair!

IN DISBELIEF

Folding clothes and picking your nose

And there are politics and lunatics –

Write a poem – try not to be annoying

Lessons learned – making a wrong turn

Truth is seen and others are mean

Waving at chicks – women turning tricks

In life we strive while trying to stay alive

And then we talk – seldom taking a walk

Life is good when it’s understood –

Always in disbelief trying to find relief

Emotions upside down as we look around

Our brain is on fire but nothing to desire

Then we think to our self – what is left

We stop and pray then we’re on our way

CAN YOU TELL ME

I’d like a different view

For every kind of thought –

But I guess you never knew

Of all the battles I’ve fought!

In life there are many turns

So no one knows what’s in my head

Or all the things I may dread!

From my eyes if you could see

   I don’t wear rose colored glasses –

O the sadness of this world hides in me,

But little can one man do!

It’s like a raging fire that turns to ashes,

But I guess you never knew

Tell me – do you have a different view?

TRUMP THE PATRIOT

This Is An Accurate, Short Video Of Who Trump Is.

JUSTIFIED

A little Scotch on the rocks

Will numb this pain in me!

Then to hell with all the clocks,

My problems I can no longer see!

A few drinks give me a lift

I feel like jumping off a cliff –

Life only goes around ones

So what if I look like a dunce!

A little Scotch on the rocks,

And ugly women start to look good!

O that music sure rocks,

I’d take them all home if I could –

Okay, so maybe I’m a little high

As the smoke gets in my eyes,

Why do I drink – I don’t know why!

But it always leads to my demise –

All these faces without a name,

But in truth I guess I fit in –

I always have the Scotch to blame,

Remember, you have to play to win!

Justified, these bridges I’ll burn

Somethings I guess we never learn!

A STATUE FOR PIGEONS

Rumors or consumers,

Pantyhose and bloomers . . .

And of course, the Baby Boomers!

From the Blue Ridge

To the Golden Gate Bridge . . .

Time marches on!

From a sunrise to a sunset,

But in life we should never regret . . .

So I look around and to my surprise

God has brought beauty to my eyes!

Then I think of you, my friend,

And I wonder when life will end?

Time marches on!

But is life just a statue for Pigeons?

NEVER ENOUGH

I’m sorry!

So I hang my head low

Please forgive me from head to toe!

I’m sorry!

I zigged when I should have zagged

I will buy you a new handbag!

I’m sorry!

It was mindless words said in haste

Yes, your lips I love to taste!

I’m sorry!

I know these excuses are lame

No honey, in no way you are to blame!

I’m sorry!

I know I ran the car in the ditch

No I didn’t whisper you’re a bitch!

Not sorry!

HAVE YOU NOTICED

Have you noticed how time flies?

Or maybe when a baby cries –

Always governed by sound . . .

As the world keeps going around!

At night the honeybee can’t fly,

But have you ever wondered why?

After a rain there’s a rainbow,

And on and on life seems to go . . .

Think when we are at work or play

Never knowing if this is our last day!

Have you noticed how time flies?

Or the realization after a friend dies –

But we are too busy to even know

When the moon puts off its glow!

TEARS OF THE SOUL

Tears of the soul never fade away

They just hide for another day –

Listen to the strings of an old guitar

Crying out in this old rundown bar . . .

Or maybe the sweet sounds of a violin

Reminding me of where I have been!

Smoke rises as the whiskey goes down,

And the reasons I’m can’t be found –

Drowning my sorrows is my best excuse,

Pent-up emotions I’m letting loose!

Yes friends, things are not the same –

So I guess it is love I’ll have to blame!

Tears of the soul never fade away

It’s for the cost of love I have to pay!

MINDLESS SPECULATION

When the winter turns into spring,

And the learned knows everything!

When this world stops spinning around,

And when they put us in the ground!

When dark clouds appear in the sky,

And when one’s heart no longer can cry!

Remember when we all were once young,

And we knew when to keep our tongue!

When we were kids we would pitch a fit,

And mother spanked our ass that was it!

The teacher would say, “Don’t you squirm,””

Remember you came to school to learn!

Okay, so it’s just a mindless speculation –

I’m not here to fix your hopeless situation!

MEET YOUR MAKER

A rich man sits in his ivory tower

Giving little thought to God's power!

I'll take what I can from this day

Words of blaspheming, he would say!

Some people think they are quite clever,

But life is not forever . . .

He rolls the dice and hopes for a seven,

But very few rich men go to heaven!

Above all men he tries to tower

Not knowing what will be his last hour!

So friends, gather only what you need,

Help your fellow man – do a good deed!

Remember, life is like a vapor . . .

Then it's time to meet your maker!

WALKING IN THE RAIN

Do you think it’s profitable?

that truth or a lie the eyes see

it’s true with most everything

which is the best of these?

Life is like walking in the rain

beads hide quietly on the grass

as time slowly drifts on by . . .

but the truth we can never pass!

You see, we have to be honest

tell the truth – tell it all!

we cannot deceive ourselves

this only makes us look small!

Do you think it’s profitable?

to lie, that is unconscionable!

JUST A PHARM GIRL

The little Apothecary shop in the dale

She worked hard to keep people well –

A thirty day or a ninety day supply . . .

The health of others made her cry –

Time grows long standing on your feet,

But always a task for her to complete!

Some would question if the med worked,

And then others just gave her a smirk –

Bottom line: “You can’t please everyone!”

“I'm doing my best!” It's not always fun –

There are days she questioned her sanity

Trying to hold back on her profanity!

The little Apothecary shop in the dale

Dealing with all the red tape was hell!

ROMEO AND JULIET

I reached out for your affection,

There is not much else I can do!

How can love stand up to your rejection?

Not understanding the hurts in you.

I am the sand and you the wave,

But where does a heart began to break?

My lips upon yours sweet Juliet,

Will ease the pain that you dearly hate.

Again and again you somehow retreat

Far from my knocks upon your door,

And again, I do not know the reason why

That I keep coming back for more.

Maybe it’s the lure of your mystery I seek

An uncertainty that I need to know,

Or that somehow I can win your trust,

And in time you will surely let go.

Perhaps it’s my need for you not to cry

In the secret places of your mind;

For it was not I my sweet Juliet

That broke your heart and stole your time.

This passion I have makes me hurt for you,

My angry at the one who broke your heart!

What sense does it make to feel this way?

To which I played no part.

The choices you made were made by you,

And how it works is what you choose.

I know it’s hard to hide within your mind,

But to have known love, was to never lose.

I dream sometimes my sweet Juliet

That your need is to stay and to never go,

But do you think only of yourself,

And care less of these words from Romeo?

IF SHE READS THIS

I noticed her as she was working,

And I apologize for my lurking –

But I seldom saw you smile . . .

And I thought of this for a while.

On occasion she’d find on her floor

Words written she couldn’t ignore –

It all started as a silly game . . .

Hoping a poem would ease her pain!

Maybe the words got in her head

Reading them before she went to bed –

I can’t imagine the excitement she felt,

But we all play the cards we’re dwelt!

So if she reads this I hope she smiles –

Just another poem added to her files. :-)

THINGS ARE CHANGING

A spider weaves its golden web

While another rides on the ebb –

Time in the meadow stands still

As shadows cast upon the hill –

All day long the snail just dozes

While the dew dries on the roses –

Soon the blossoms turn the cherry

But why are we in such a hurry –

The dawn comes each day, so neat

Comfortable as sandals on our feet –

The truth is something that I seek

But things are changing every week –

On the piano I strike an old note

“I love you,” on a sticky I wrote –

GOODNESS I FOUND

My blue eyes

Always looking where they go –

Seeing the world as it is

I guess that’s all they know!

Heartaches and sadness

Is that all they can see?

I wish that wasn’t true,

But I’m not blind

In this misery!

I stop and look around . . .

And there is goodness I found –

My blue eyes saw

A man holding a woman’s hand

So now my eyes understand!
