MIRRORS DON’T LIE

Dumb people, smart people,

Average people, alike,

Then you have those

That want to talk smack,

Woke people, trans people,

A man in a dress –

Woman with a beard –

The world is a mess!

Liberals, conservatives

Whites and blacks,

Some are just not sure, so

They fall through the cracks

Be what you were meant to be

Mirrors don’t lie you see!

ALL THE BLESSINGS

On the wings of time I ride,

And I have these feelings inside

That something good will come today,

And all my worries will fade away!

The wind drifts across time,

And I have found peace in my mind.

The sunlight – the brightest I’ve seen –

It’s like night that let me dream,

The truth is simply that

In this world I wear many hats,

I look at life – my heart wants to sing,

To all the blessings God will bring!

THE EAGLE

At the break of day

The Eagle spreads her wings

Owning the skies

As the earth sings.

In the evening, she finds rest

As most lie in their bed

Unaware of her presents

As stars dance in her head.

Her eyes can see all

As creatures fill the night

Governed not by man, and

Tomorrow, another flight.

The Eagle spreads her wings,

But only God knows all things.

TAKE ANOTHER LOOK

All but sadness

   In my heart I hold

Longing for the day

   My love you should know!

All my sadness

   This heart will cry,

And just what if

   Tomorrow I will die?

All my sadness

I will carry it all day,

And if I should forget

I guess I lost my way!

And sad I am

   For this love in me,

So, darling please know

   My heart you didn’t see!

STOP AND LISTEN

Leaves crackle beneath my feet

Where dawn and sunlight meet –

The world is rushing on by . . .

And we seldom stop and ask why.

So, friend, why are you in a hurry,

And why do you always worry . . .

Did you stop and smell the roses?

Or look at what life composes –

Please, stop and listen to the wind

Why are you rushing to life’s end?

Listen to the birds as they sing . . .

Realize they don’t want a thing!

Know that it’s time you can’t borrow,

And let God take care of tomorrow.

UPON THE MORN

Have you walked in the corn

Or felt of a bull’s horn . . .

Have you watched an Eagle fly

Or heard a child cry . . .

May be watched a bull frog leap,

Or felt the wool of a sheep.

The pitter patter of little feet

Or leaves blowing on the street . . .

Looked into the eyes of fear

Or saw the color of a tear . . .

Flowers that bloom in spring,

And a morning when birds sing.

We must experience it all

So, there’re memories to recall . . .

We’re so caught up in the world

We never see a rose uncurl . . .

Stop and watch the sunrise,

And count clouds in the skies . . .

The crow sits in the corn,

As he waits upon the morn!

IN PLAIN VIEW

Most people are blind

   That’s what I’m told –

Rose colored glasses

   Was that too bold?

Most people are blind

   Unwilling to see –

Truth is all that matters

   So just let it be!

Most people are blind

   Doing what they may –

Just tickle their ears,

   As time slips away!

And blind they are

   This is so true –

They just won’t see

   What’s in plain view!
