TAKOTSUBO SYNDROME

In the night a thought came to me,

As moon shadows fell upon a hill,

The sadness in my heart I didn’t see,

And her spirit won’t let me be,

Like the bedsheets that lie still –

Then I reached across an empty bed,

And then, tears fell upon my pillow!

O God the memories in my head,

When we made love under the willow

While the stars shone and spread

Their colors were blue and yellow.

I’m here! I know you’re coming to see

All my sadness – my broken will,

And to look at this brokenness in me!

“Dear God! Her spirit,” Let me be,

O dear heart be still, please be still!

LOVE SICKNESS

Is love blind?

This is what I’ve always been told!

I’m thinking it must be true

Just think of all the lovers I know!

Is love blind?

Thinking of the times my heart cried,

And no one seemed to care

If I lived or died!

Is love blind?

When heartaches come my way

This leaves too much sadness

That never seems to go away!

Yes, love is blind!

This endless passion hiding in me,

So, please tell me

Will this love sickness ever let me be?

I’M FOOLING MYSELF

The fact that I love you – no surprise,

But this heart sobs and cries –

I sit alone and wait for your call,

But they say, “pride goth before the fall!”

I look out my window hoping you’ll drive by,

But I’m fooling myself and I don’t know why!

So sad, my day is turning into night,

And I know you are nowhere in sight –

Am I just telling myself a lie?

As I watch the morning dew dry . . .

In this sadness it’s hard to take breath,

This must be harder than death!

The fact that I love you – no surprise,

But this heart still sobs and cries!

HELL CAME CALLING

When truth looks like a lie,

When the dark clouds pass on by,

The cold earth beneath me lies,

And in silence I heard your cries!

(Hell came calling today!)

So much evil – that’s no surprise,

Then my soul weeps and sighs,

As we all must absorb it all, then

I heard whispers of God’s call,

And we wait, then time goes on by

Hoping a good man doesn’t die!

Twenty-four seven – day and night,

We know that something isn’t right!

The left-wing liberals spread lies

While a grieving family cries –

Twenty-four seven – night and day,

Tragedy, there’s nothing more to say!

The wind twirls among the flowers,

As arrogant men sits in their towers,

From the sadness we can’t breathe,

And it’s in God we must believe –

(Hell came calling today!)

A life taken, but God has the last say!

FACES OF EVIL

Monday’s face was the same as we started our pace,

Tuesday’s face is when terror rang with total disgrace,

Wednesday’s face humiliated us with sorrow and woe,

Thursday’s face gave us hope as we waited to know,

Friday’s face showed despair as we wept with fear,

Saturday’s face displayed our nation’s eagle with a tear,

And our faces were humbly bowed before God on Sunday

To give us understanding for the evil that came our way.

THAT HURTS ME

Things that leave me blue,

Like an old love I once knew!

We did fit like a glove,

Like rosebuds on the ground

But I was not sure it was love

Because it once let me down

Like a heart filled with pride

Causes two hearts to collide,

You see love is a test

With all the games we play,

Then the heart finds little rest

When troubles fill the day!

I wish I could go back

Maybe I’d not be so slack

Then I’ll wait until

The urge has gone away

But this void I can’t fill

And loneliness will stay

My heart always knew

That love was about you!

But it’s only me to blame

For my eyes couldn’t see

That your heart was in pain

And that truly hurts me!

I’M FISHING

When I mature out

I plan to go fishing –

Sitting on the bank all day,

And do a lot of wishing!

Maybe I will camp out,

And pitch a little tent –

Build a fire to stay warm,

   And smell nature’s scent!

There's something about

The smell of fish frying –

And just being alone

   I need it – I’m not lying!

When I mature out

   I’m fishing – no doubt!

IN HER WORLD

When I take a shower

I wash and I wash

Head to toe, head to toe

Head to toe, head to toe.

But the lady I love

Soaks for hours,

Bubbles fill the tub –

Splash! Splash!

And that

Is how it goes

With her glass of wine

Humming a song . . .

Because –

   There are no clocks

   In her world of time.

MAYBE TODAY

Are you awake?

Is it going to take an earthquake?

You are not alone – most are asleep

Some just like to be sheep!

But I am here to say:

“Sooner or later we all have to play!”

In truth, most people don’t care –

They are like headlights to a Deer!

Are you awake?

Or do you prefer to just be fake?

You are not alone – just keep it real

Who cares what lies beyond the hill!

But I am here to say:

“Life will soon change – maybe today!”

NOT AS LOUD

As a little boy I stood tall and proud

The storms came, and they were loud –

But the sun will always appear, and then

I remember, it will happen again! . . .

As a little boy I learned to be still,

And feel the sun on the windowsill –

And hear the whispers of God’s word:

“The sweetest sounds I’ve ever heard!”

Yet as I saw it, I’ll see it again,

Sin and greed, in the hearts of men –

And as long as I live, and all that I see,

It’s only God that can set us all free!

Now as an adult I stand tall and proud

The storms will come, but not as loud!

I HEARD IT SAY

I came upon a broken heart,

It was a sadness I never knew –

Then in the quietness I heard it say:

“Love is the reason I am blue!”

No one knows my hurt and pain,

And who am I to blame –

All the tears that I have cried,

Everyone, I can call by name!

So, here I sit in the darkness,

Hoping that love will come by –

Looking back at all the years

I find, without love I will die!

Then in the quietness I heard it say:

 “Someone, make sadness go away!”

IT NEVER ENDS

When going to war don’t make friends,

And we let others make a command –

They are here today and gone tomorrow

   Like an hourglass dispensing sand!

The cries of men will trouble the soul

Like shadows of the sun and moon –

O the games of war that men like to play,

While a young man lies in his tomb!

There’s no justification for killing others,

And we all know it’s about the money –

All the war factories are up and running,

And the smell of death is never funny!

When going to war don’t make friends,

For the memories of war, it never ends!

TRUST IN THE LORD

The morning is so warm and clear,

That gives my heart a song –

Like angels singing from heaven,

To God alone my soul belongs!

Trust in the Lord, and not of men,

And know that Jesus is King –

The world is overseen by Satan,

And it’s only sorrow he can bring!

In the quietness of my soul . . .

I know, God is watching with love –

As the day comes together quietly

   Like raindrops falling from above!

The morning is so warm and clear,

And today, I’ll choose not to fear!

SADNESS I KNOW

The rain comes down

   Quietly and slow,

The wind is silent,

   And sadness I know.

The mice play in the hey

   Running to and fro –

The fields lay quietly,

   And sadness I know.

The clouds cross the sky

   The sun sinks low –

The day is unpredictable,

   And sadness I know.

But life must go on,

   And sadness will show,

But there is happiness,

   And now you know!

THE BEST

I like the mist,

I like the risk,

And I like you

I’ll make a list –

And then you’ll know

It was not for show!

I’d like to say

It’s a new day,

And then, look

My love I gave away –

The storms, the rain,

And through pain!

I love your wit,

And I love it

When you smile,

And laugh,

And pitch a fit –

I guess I love it all

The best I recall!

DING! DING!

   The warning Bell!

   The warning Bell!

Look at the weather – all is not well,

You cannot say that things are fine,

Do you have two brain cells in your mind?

Manipulating the weather is my thought –

What they tell us I have never bought!

Please tell me you’re still not asleep,

One day justice will reap!

I know, things are getting scary,

But God says not to worry,

Ignore the truth – just be merry,

And pretend that life is grand,

And wait until something hits the fan!

      Scarf if you may,

But you’ll find out one day!

                    Ding! Ding!

WITH DIGNITY

We have no time to stand and stare,

While loved ones begin to die –

A process that is done with care,

Then to our minds we all ask why?

There is no time left to dance,

No time lift to see another sunrise –

Loved ones take their final glance,

Life is taken without compromise!

There’ll be no time to feel the wind

Or feel the grass upon your feet –

But when does life truly end?

And now no one lives on that street!

We have no time to stand and stare,

So, let us die with dignity and care.

YOUR SPIRIT KNOWS

The flowers are speaking from the rain,

The leaves whisper as the fly,

And winter will soon knock at the door

As time slowly drifts on by!

Yet we hear so little of what it’s all about

The world is too busy to see –

What matters – getting priorities in order,

A taunting truth that even hides in me!

Listen to your inner voice . . .

Listen! There in the mist I hear it chime!

God whispers in your ear, so rejoice!

Enjoy the moments of life’s perfect time!

Smell the fragrance as life unfolds . . .

And listen because your spirit knows!

LIFE’S GAME

The clouds darken the sky

While the Willows bend –

But no one asks why,

“When will these storms end?”

Dark clouds will bring the rain,

And they will hide the sun –

But can you see a heart in pain,

When there is nowhere to run!

Maybe we’re all filled with fear,

But the world will not play nice –

So, be aware if trouble comes near,

Then ask, who can give us advice?

The storms, when will they end

Or have they come to stay –

Reality, look where we’ve been,

And say, “Life’s game we had to play!”

Thomas Theophilus© August 16, 2025

THAT DEPENDS

Dawn whispers! Can you hear

The fog rising as it comes near –

The day is about to unfold . . .

Life is so sweet - this you know!

Everything in perfect design

God’s beauty that is so Divine –

Listen and hear His voice . . .

Praise His words and rejoice!

Think of all that comes to mind,

And let your world unwind –

Dawn whispers! Can you hear

The fog rising as it comes near –

Enjoy today before it ends,

And tomorrow, well that depends!

COMPLICATED

In thought –

Love            such a simple word –

Poured into a heart

Like grapes before they are wine

Passion        the taste       so sweet

Yet we remain confused

Like little children at play

Learning the rules

Of love

When the world is upside down

The mind

Filled with possibilities

Today    tomorrow   yesterday

Trying to figure it all out

Emotions come unraveled and

In thought

Love

And

          Time

                    Have no boundaries

A simple word       love

Spoken

But

Yet

So damn complicated

PORTRAIT OF TRAITORS

Powers were given, but not deserved,

To those governed by greed –

Little thought to people in need . . .

To them it was all just a game,

And even declaring it in God’s name!

Powers were given, but not served –

They stood as the cameras flash

Watching the stock markets crash!

The true arrogance of man,

And for truth they will never stand!

In front of the world they pretend,

And to falsehood it will never end –

A position of power that’s undeserved

Portrait of traitors – the Devil served!
