A mountain

I climbed

to the top

 

the view

so inviting

it’s beauty

 

electrifying

my heart

pounding

 

as though

time has

stood still

 

I questioned

why Lord

did I

deserve

   And the bed sheets are cold –

And a passionate soul is on fire!

   What more do you need to know?

My spirit cries out for your touch,

  And this need in me begins to rise!

Today, as I watch my world crumble,

And these words I am trying to say –

Outside I hear the thunder rumble,

As I want to have things my way!

“Don’t pee on my leg and say it’s raining,”

(That is the quote of the day!)

As I listen to everyone complaining –

Wishing, and hoping, to find a better way!

You don’t understand: “It’s all about me!”

Wait a minute! I didn’t ask to be born!

The true me you want me to, see?

A NATION BLESSED

 

Oh, dear God of the universe…

Thank You for our President!

Who must bear a broken nation,

And hear the cries of her children,

And watch as our cities burn down.

 

Oh, dear God of the universe…

Who watches over this land, with love,

And gives every trodden soul hope!

 

Oh, dear God of the universe…

You see our Eagle shedding her tears

As this nation is faced with turmoil,

And destruction, but this You know:

We are all of one blood, of one heart,

And we all need to turn to You in times

Of trouble, and to know we will prevail!

 

Oh, dear God of the universe…

Thank You for the freedoms we have,

And to look at the world at large,

And to know how blessed we truly are!

WHAT IF WE LOSE

 

The whispers, O the whispers,

But your heart cannot hear –

The sweet sounds of love

Awakes even the smallest tear!

Within yourself passion hides,

But rejection rules your mind!

All we ever need is acceptance,

And our soulmate we must find –

The whispers, O the whispers,

As love knocks at the door . . .

But what if it’s not the one?

What if we can never choose?

Should we just turn and run?

I KNOW I’M RIGHT

 

A mind said, “I know I’m right!”

   Love is only in the heart!

Look at love without any spite,

   It’s sadness that breaks it apart!

 

Look at what is stored there . . .

   True love will not betray!

It’s like a breath of fresh air,

   And like the dawn of a new day!

 

Yesterday is gone – time will pass,

   And tomorrow will come!

But know that nothing will last,

   And there is nowhere to run!

 

A mind said, “I know I’m right!”

But only love can fill one’s night!

LIKE NO OTHER ONE

 

If I could do one thing . . .

   Then it would be done –

To touch you in places

   Like no other one!

 

I would fill all your dreams

   Wipe the tears from your eyes –

Run my fingers through your hair,

   And watch your spirit rise!

 

And when I hold you in my arms

   Love will be found –

Then you will know you’re mine,

   As the evening moon goes down!
