BROKEN HEARTS

 

   Under the Sycamore tree,

   Jenny loved to lie with me,

   And to that I’ll make a note:

   “I loved you to”, I wrote,

O lover! O lover! O lover!

      This heart you didn’t see,

      So please let it all be –

Broken hearts never recover!

 

      I thought you were the one,

   Looking back, I should’ve run,

   But loving you I don’t regret,

   And I’ve not replaced you yet,

A NEW BEGINNING

 

 Once, a man was given his call,

We all take for granted “What he has done,”

So many times, his back is against the wall,

Patriotism beats in his heart as he bows his head,

And he is not a man that turns and runs!

Fear is something he will never dread –

The liberals, and all the little snowflakes,

But this he knows, “Some people will always hate,”

His heart is broken from all the games they play,

But truth will always drive them away!

He will never back down – he knows what it takes,

And with God’s help he is never alone –

Some in his own party have done him wrong!

But we all see the love of this nation in his eyes –

“A loyal man,” let’s all get it straight!

Once again, we are proud as Old Glory flies . . .

“America,” do the right thing – it’s not too late!

Look at this nation and where we have been,

This is a new beginning, and not the end!

These are more than words

they come from the heart

and not said lightly

as tears well in my eyes

I love you

 

I know I don’t say them enough

to you, and I’m sorry

but you must know

 

If it were not for you

A HOUSE ON QUAIL

 

I once lived in a house, on quail,

But the house burned down –

I tried to put it out, but I failed!

Oh! Yes, it burned to the ground!

We lost pretty much everything –

Looking back, I just wonder why?

I’m still alive – so I don’t complain!

And little good it does to cry –

My heart is still filled with guilt,

As thoughts race through my mind!

It was like watching memories wilt,

And only helpfulness I could find –

I once lived in a house, on quail,

But regrets never serve one well!

CAN NEVER REPAY

 

For your love I can never repay,

And it’s to our God, I pray!

Your sweet love I don’t deserve,

I’m sorry I got on your last nerve!

 

To be in love comes at a price,

And we don’t always play nice!

Love is quite a stretch as well

And it can be worse than hell!

 

I will reach for you in the night

The clock strikes – darkness cries,

And I know my world is right

Seeing the passion in your eyes –

Brings all the goodness to light

A love this heart never denies!

THE WEIGHT OF TRUTH

 

This weighs on my heart heavily,

   And I’m sorry that I did you wrong

   It reminds me of a sad song –

An awful memory that won’t let me be!

   There’re always consequences for a lie

   And we cannot always explain why!

We make excuses, and blame other things

But in the end, it seems the same!

   In the depths of our soul comes the sound:

   “The sadness of letting someone down!”

This weighs on my heart heavily,

   The things we say we can’t take back,

   We don’t know why – my mind I rack!

But it’s the truth we all need to see.

A KIND SPIRIT

 

Why the need to bloviate

Is the soul filled with hate?

It takes all kinds of people

Some worship a Devil’s steeple!

A humble person is kind

With goodness in their mind!

Mother Teressa knew what to do

She believed in the Golden Rule –

Why the need to bloviate

Will you do this at the pearly gate?

Just look to God and you’ll find

Then, let kindness fill your mind!

In your heart you know it –

So let it in and have a kind spirit!
