CONTENTMENT

 

Moon over lake,

   Where the wind likes to play

Dancing in the moonlight –

   Sing until your heart’s content,

And know it’s right –

   For love comes at night.

GOD ALREADY KNOWS

 

   Why

Do you lie?

You were given many chances!

But you made your bed –

You blamed it on circumstances,

And now the truth you dread!

 

Why is the heart so evil?

And what do you have to gain!

Always partaking in upheaval,

And finding others to blame!

 

Is there any truth in you?

If so, then what do you say,

We are all judged by what we do,

So don’t just look the other way!

 

Listen to you soul – hear it call

Turn your eyes to the sky

God already knows it all –

So why

   Does your heart lie?

SWIMMING UPSTREAM

 

Slowly, quietly, shadows cross the room

It is as dark as a tomb –

In this darkness I cannot see

It’s like this loneliness hidden in me –

In my heart and mind, I search

Like a night owl setting on her perch –

Or as the fog rises from a bog,

Alone life’s journey I jog . . .

Lifting my rose-colored glasses, I peep

And then realize that we are all like sheep!

But life keeps on passing by . . .

Then all I can do is wonder why:

Young men prophecy, and old men dream,

But why do I feel I’m swimming upstream?

LOVE HURTS

She looked away

Quietly,

So shy,

But I knew!

 

It was not her fault,

Sadness,

Rejection,

Lies,

And this:

“Love hurts!”

 

For a moment,

She looks up,

Eyes of passion,

Then I saw

Her tears!

 

Such beauty

A tender soul,

Hidden,

In a secret place

That only I saw

The love

On her face!

IT WILL MEND

If a broken heart

Could call out my name,

What would it say?

Was it love to blame!

O dear one

“There’s nowhere to run!

Love can now laugh –

I guess sadness won.

 

“Poor little heart,

Crying all alone,

But time moves on,

Like water over a stone –

Flowers in a meadow

After summer they died,

As we looked back

How hard they cried!

 

“Lost in time

So cut me some slack,

The world is not an oyster,

And I can’t look back!

Time marches on,

And I can’t get down,

I will wait until tomorrow

Love will be back around!

 

“This you should know

About a broken heart:

In time it will mend

Even though it fell apart!

So, what did you learn?

With love – take a chance

There are no guarantees

Just enjoy the romance!

NO SHAME

 

There is not one heart that knows no shame,

    And its guilt has nowhere to hide

The sorrow! It is always filled with pain,

   And agony – the payoff for its endless pride!

The emptiness of where nothing was before,

   Lies a broken soul shackled by deceit -

Like a wrecked ship that is stuck on a shore,

   But the truth can never be discreet!

 

And then, sadness, I sit all alone . . .

   Broken from all that could have been,

And the regrets of things I did wrong,

   Wondering how this love story will end?

There is not one heart that knows no shame,

   But it’s my own heart I must blame!

BUT IN GOD

Hello! Hello, Friends! I’m back!

So please cut me some slack!

Question me not, just no use!

O’ troubles in life – turn me loose!

O’ those looks if they could kill,

But remember, “I love you still!”

It’s been a while – no I didn’t die

I’m okay, well that’s a lie!

You see my house burned down –

But it’s the refuge my heart found!

What is important we all can find,

And so many friends were so kind!

Life is uncertain to say the least,

But in God there is always peace!
