THE DEFINITION OF A FOOL

 

Do not answer a fool according to his folly

Or you yourself will be just like him –

Do not engage with him on his own terms!

(A fool as his foolishness deserves) –

So that he will not be wise in his own eyes!

Fools reject their parents’ correction,

But anyone who accepts corrections is wise!

“Whoever loves instruction love knowledge,

But those who hate corrections are stupid!”

If a man refuses to be discipline or listen

To wisdom and doesn’t do the will of God,

Then he’ll never enter into His kingdom!

“A fool takes no pleasure in understanding,

And a man that says there is no God is a fool!”

EVERY DAY

 

From the rocky crag a voice I heard:

“Truth is not just another word!”

Every day starts at dawn . . .

Then when night falls it’s gone!

And all that matters is simply this:

“To tell the truth you’re never at risk!”

OUR GREATEST VIRTUE

 

Perseverance is the ability to achieve something

Even when it’s difficult or takes a long time!

The single mindedness to rise to the occasion

So what if you fail – get up and try again!

Persistence and tenacity takes an effort to keep

Going until the end, even if it seems impossible!

Determination holds the key to success, and the

Willingness to go beyond our human needs!

Steadfastness under pressure defines us all,

And endurance in the face of life’s endless trails!  

Have a purpose in life – deal with disappointments

If you never take a chance you will never know!

Stubbornness can be a great asset if used right –

Unremitting, unyielding, and to never ever quit!

YOUR BEST FRIEND

 

Look at a baby

In a crib it lies to rest.

 

Listen to the birds sing

The morning brings them joy

In a day that will be no more!

 

Think of the songs in your heart,

And know it’s good to be alive!

 

You see, tomorrow doesn’t matter –

We only have today!

 

Listen to the wind

It whistle’s to its own tune.

 

Look in the mirror

That is your best friend

So be happy before life ends!

O SWEET LOVE

 

I held her in my arms with tender hands,

And this heart made no commands –

For it’s only love that understands!

 

The sadness of her spirit now calls,

But why is there a need to build walls?

The mistakes of yesterday the mind recalls.

 

The tension builds – I clear my throat,

Tears rush in as I make a note –

It’s about yesterday the books men wrote!

 

So here in the stillness of time I lie . . .

Why did you leave me, O sweet love, why?

I HAVE A SOFT SPOT

 

The truth in a heart you can’t fake!

But a lie your mind can make –

Then your consciousness will ask why?

That one’s soul needs to cry!

 

A haughty attitude somehow towers,

But the truth is always ours –

Like a pot brewing – soon it will blow

It’s like a bad temper, you know!

 

I have a soft spot in my heart, there,

And I don’t have a need to swear –

But who needed to invent the clock?

Time was happy living under a rock!

 

What if tomorrow doesn’t come, never!

Did you think you’d live forever?

So there is something I need to say:

“Why would you forget to live today?”

WHERE IS YOUR TREASURE

 

So where is your treasure?

In a fleeting moment of pleasure!

Do you think you will live forever?

With a screaming heart, and being clever –

Look at your life – look what you have paid,

Then others will spend what you’ve made!

You see nothing is going to last

So it matters not what you will mast!

Life comes down to a simple choice:

Listen to the world or listen to God’s voice –

So where is your treasure?

The days of your life cannot be measured!

“He who believes in Me will live forever –

Study My word – truth you can endeavor!”

A DIVIDED MIND

 

Twenty four seven our minds are fed!

Always telling us what we need –

We are so controlled we cannot think!

The system is based on total greed –

Can you leave home without your phone?

How many Apps do you have?

How many prescriptions are you taking?

Can you wear all of your shoes and clothes?

What happened to your quiet time?

What happened to taking a walk or a nap?

So please tell me: Who owns you?

 

Where is your source for peace?

Can you explain the emptiness in your soul?

Will money or fame fill that void?

So why are you rebelling against God?

Have you forgotten His promises?

“My peace I leave you; my peace I give you.

Not as the world gives do I give to you.”

So who do you choose to listen to?

Do you choose the world over God?

Here is some food for thought:

Cut all of your electronics off for a day!

Go sit under a shade tree then listen to

The quiet voice of God whispering:

“It’s only in Me that you can find peace!”

LETTERS FROM HELL

 

I come every day and sit in my car –

I can see each soldier passing through the gate,

And yes it’s the waiting that I hate!

It’s been two long years since I have seen you,

And I can still remember kissing you goodbye!

They say the war is over, and I pray it’s true!

But I have been so afraid that you would die –

I have read your letters over and over . . .

You were only eighteen when you were drafted,

And in your letters you say you now feel forty!

Lost in a foreign land that seems so far away –

And I pray that this war has not changed you!

I know I don’t know a tenth of the horror –

I could tell you were protecting me from hell!

Time has stood still – it’s now been 3 months,

And today your mother gives me a call –

She said, “Two uniformed soldiers came by”

Her voice was shaking and I could hear her cry –

I fell to the floor – I’m screaming out to God!

Why God! Why God! He was only twenty,

And I have waited so long for his return!

Then the Lord kindly reminded me:

“Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not

know what a day may bring forth.” Proverbs 27:1

A PIECE OF HEAVEN

 

A trip from Murphy to Manteo . . .

It’s 547.5 miles in case you didn’t know –

With Blue Mountains and valley’s green

Sceneries like your eyes have never seen!

So surely you can hear Carolina calling –

For moments your soul has been longing!

Mountains, piedmont, and sandy shores

It’s a quality of life like never before –

Grandfather Mountain is standing tall …

Where you can hear the Red Hawk’s call!

Views are so spectacular for endless miles

Where one’s mind can rest for a while –

A piece of heaven that most don’t know,

“A perfect place on earth you need to go!”

CULTURE OF INSANITY

 

It’s all by plan and design –

They have brainwashed our minds!

Over and over they tell a lie,

And a weak mind never asks why!

It’s on TV so it has to be true –

Indoctrinated into what we can view!

So why should we think for ourselves?

Leave the books on the shelves –

We don’t need a brain – we have a phone

It even tells us how to get home!

Memorizing facts – that’s old school

So to hell with the golden rule!

It’s all by plan and design –

They have brainwashed our minds!

To my words you should heed,

   Never, never give up!

Eliminate your heart from greed,

   Never, never give up!

Then you can live life in peace,

Because, the world you can release,

And your happiness will increase –

WE JUST NEED FAITH

 

I know a place where we never grow old,

   And time is something will never know –

And darkness has no place to hide,

   Where light will always show!

 

So today ask yourself, “Do I have faith?”

   Is it the love of God, you know?

Where are you going after this life is over?

   Search your heart – the truth will show!

 

God is always with us – we just need faith!

   We have to take inventory on what is real,

Look at the universe – God set it all in place,

   And to the truth we cannot ever yield!

 

I know a place where we never grow old,

And the streets are paved with gold!

TAKING AMERICA BACK

 

The things they did teach me in school,

And I do remember the golden rule –

Over my heart I placed my hand,

And I pledged allegiance to this land!

Indoctrinated to put America first –

The national anthem we had to rehearse!

This is something I will never forget,

And there’s nothing better I’ve found yet!

I still stand proud and watch old glory fly,

And for America I would still die!

So don’t you wave your flag in my face –

The undertakers will lay you in your place!  

You liberals can be as crazy as you like,

But know this, “We’re taking America back!”

TOAST THE WINNER

 

In any situation we cannot control,

Politics and religion we can’t argue,

The best thing is to let it go!

But I can still love you!

 

Someone will always have to win

So don’t be a sore loser!

You will have a chance again . . .

And maybe the road will be smoother!

 

If you had won you would’ve gloated!

So please show some class –

Its life, we all cannot get promoted –

Let’s toast the winner – fill your glass!

 

Focus on the real problems we face –

Walk slowly – there’s no need to race!

MEMORIES THAT LINGER

 

“Come, my lover,” said a heart one day,

“Come to my bed and let’s play –

It’s this heart you surely know,

I long for you – even when it’s cold!”

 

When the moon shadows fall . . .

Sounds of my spirit you’ll hear it call –

And when your heart is sad and blue,

I’ll sing old love songs to you!

 

“Yes darling,” my hands upon your skin,

Your body will cry out, “Let it never end!”

And I’ll take you where you’ve never been –

Ah, when love is done right it’s not a sin!

 

“Lover, I’ll tell you things that you know,

The truth in a heart will always show –

And after the love we have made . . .

Remember the moonlight where you laid!

 

Singing and dancing – where love went,

Sounds of heartbeats, and feeling content –

O my lover, the night you came to my bed,

And the memories that linger in my head!
